Endings and Beginnings
The year is almost at an end. It has been an exciting year astrologically, and, with much still unsettled in the world, it will continue to be so into the new one.
One of the more significant upcoming events is the imminent conjunction of Pluto to the Galactic Center which makes its debut on December 28th. The Galactic Center is found at 27 degrees of Sagittarius, at the densest point of the Milky Way. Not much is certain about what this conjunction means, but there is a lot of talk about the possibilities. Lynn at Astrodynamics has two very good articles on the subject. (You will find the second article from a link in this one.)
While most of the speculation on the effects of this conjunction are from a global perspective, many people with natal planets situated in or aspected by the late degrees of Sagittarius will be affected on a personal level. For me, an intense Scorpio with Saturn a mere degree away from the Galactic Center, this has been a potent time of change and letting go. I can just barely see the new possibilities dawning on the horizon and look forward to them with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
Whether or not you have personal points that will be affected by this transit, the new year is always a time of assesment of the past and planning for the future. As you contemplate the endings and beginnings in your own life, I would like to point you to several articles on what to expect in 2007 written by astrologer Robert Wilkinson at Aquarius Papers. The first is on what each of the signs can expect in 2007. The second is on the influence of the inner planets and the Moon’s Nodes. And a third talks about what effects the outer planets will have in the new year. Thanks, Robert, for sharing your wisdom.

Here’s a recent photo of the galactic center from the Hubble Telescope:
When I see things like this in the heavens, I feel my worries shift into a perspective of wonder over - what if.
New years are always new beginnings.
