On the Meaning of Life
Pastor Gordon Atkinson, over at Real Live Preacher, has written a beautiful, profound yet simple essay on the journey called life entitled Galactic Pyramid. Pastor Atkinson writes:
Every human being is on a journey to discover the meaning of life. You cannot avoid this journey. It is the price and the gift of self-awareness.
He points out that both joy and pain are essential experiences on the road to enlightenment. The pastor goes on to speak of our place in the bigger, galactic picture:
I think the journey of enlightenment is a gift offered to creatures that are aware of their own existence. And this gift is not given very often in the universe.
I have enjoyed all of Pastor Atkinson’s honest and deeply human writings on life and living, and I highly recommend his blog. If you have ever contemplated, even for a moment, the nature of existence, or wondered if you are the only person who feels a certain way, then please visit his site and read his essay(s).
