Follow-up on Rumsfeld’s Natal Chart Analysis
(Click chart for larger image.) Truthdig today published an in-depth analysis of Donald Rumsfeld and his doctrine for handling the Iraq War. Author Stan Goff, a 26 year veteran of the Army Special Forces whose son has already served four tours of duty in Iraq, tells of Rumsfeld’s reliance on military “metrics,” a reductionist strategy that has played a major role in creating the quagmire that now plagues the so-called war on terror. He also examines Rumsfeld’s insistence on controlling the public’s perceptions. (Note: This is a long article and the aspects pertinent to this post start on page 3.)
Goff writes:
Rumsfeld believed that quick, devastating precision strikes from highly computerized standoff weapons (cruise missiles, aircraft, etc.) could be combined with technologically “advanced” ground weapons systems in the hands of “light, agile” ground forces, and strategically employed (again “light”) special operations forces, to replace the Powell Doctrine’s emphasis on massive numbers of troops. It was Rumsfeld’s cyberwar-commando thesis. He regarded it as brilliance. Many generals regarded it as delusional.
Rumsfeld’s South Node in Virgo in the 9th house of beliefs is most certainly the karmic marker of his faith in the power of metrics. Virgo likes precision. Virgo can be inflexible and can exaggerate the importance of details, analysis and accuracy. It’s important to remember that the South Node denotes the karmic Achilles Heel, the possible past life pitfall. Falling into the 9th house, this can manifest as self-righteous dogma for Rumsfeld.
If Rumsfeld remains ferociously atttached to the idea that he has the perfect plan from which there must be no deviation, he will not create order and success, only more chaos. For him, dependence on fallible technology and theoretical numerics is a sure road to failure. Success will come for Rumsfeld when he learns to let go of his need to be right and develops trust in the instinctual (Pisces North Node).
Rumsfeld’s obsession with control of public perception is seen in his Sun/Pluto conjunction in the 8th house which also happens to be conjunct the United States’ Mercury (Sibley Chart). The marker of someone who believes secrecy grants power, it sextiles his South Node and trines his North Node in the houses of communication and truth, indicating that, as a strategy, it worked for him in a past life. Or did it, since he’s back again?

[…] If you have followed my previous posts on Donald Rumsfeld and the karma in his natal chart, you may have noted that I believe Rumsfeld, and not in fact Dick Cheney, to be the true Wizard behind the curtain, the man who pulls the president’s strings. […]
